sprint_logo Sprint revealed today in its Q3 2013 results that it had sold 1.4 million iPhones in the last quarter, with 40% of those iPhones being sold to new customers. The company announced a 5% year-over-year growth, posting a record postpaid service revenue of $5.8 billion. This is about consistent compared to the 1.5 million iPhones the carrier sold in the year-ago quarter. Sprint also announced LTE networks in 45 new markets, bringing its total number of LTE locations to 230 markets.

Sprint sold nearly 5 million smartphones in the third quarter with postpaid smartphone sales mix reaching record levels. Sprint sold nearly 1.4 million iPhones® during the quarter of which 40 percent were to new customers.

In 2011, Sprint committed to buying $20 billion worth of iPhones from Apple, and launched the iPhone on its prepaid Virgin Mobile USA brand in June 2012. Sprint will also launch the iPhone on its prepaid subsidary Boost Mobile on November 8.

Sprint is awesome now - they've rolled out LTE in many of the areas I travel, and with that came huge increases in 3G speeds as well. 1-2Mb/s in some
places. Extremely usable, almost negating the need for LTE in some areas.

Once 800Mhz LTE arrives in 2014, their footprint will be even larger, with more LTE penetration through buildings for indoor use.

I'm super happy with Sprint, and urge anyone that was a victim of "Old Sprint" to give them a try. If you're in an area where upgrades have not occurred yet though, Sprint is taking care of it. Do some research and find out the timeline for your market. (S4GRU.com forums)

If the service wasn't so horrendous I might switch back but the data speeds were so slow when I was with them I can't imagine going back. Hopefully they are better.

I can't imagine I'm the only one kicking myself for having a sprint iPhone 5s. The greatest newest smartphone and I can't even use Siri or iTunes Radio because my data is so crap

Network Vision

Sprint is still rolling out its Network Vision revamp of their network. It's a huge, gigantic project that even I realize was optimistic in their assessment of when it would be over. There are still 3 towers left to upgrade in my suburb but the rest are all going and I get great speeds from them when I can reach them. Unfortunately, Minneapolis is still not technically live 100% and that will take a bit.

I bet a good chunk of those 40% came out of Verizon and AT&T. T-Mobile seems to be getting better and stealing customers from Verizon and AT&T as well.

I want Sprint and T-Mobile to keep slamming the Big 2 so they forced to stop abusing their power. AT&T kind of has me trap under my grandfathered unlimited data plan and well I need their coverage as I go in areas that T-Mobile and Sprint are a no go.

You are the worse kind of person. The know it all even though you have little experience with the subject matter. Try a Sprint iPhone in a LTE area then come back and contribute some meaningful dialogue.

We just got LTE in my area and I recently upgraded my 4S to an iPhone 5. The results have been amazing. I've had LTE coverage in most areas in my city. My download speed ranges from 13-21MB/s and upload from 2-6MB/s. I used to hate on Sprint in my area only because of the poor coverage.

....No more.

+1 to Sprint
