iphonesearrayApple has lowered the price of the iPhone SE with 64GB of storage from $499 to $449 in the U.S. following its iPhone 7 event yesterday. Likewise, the monthly installment price now starts at a lower $18.71 per month through carrier financing. The 16GB model remains $399.

Apple released the iPhone SE in March 2016 as a low-cost successor to the iPhone 5s, much to the delight of customers who prefer a 4-inch screen. Apple has not disclosed iPhone SE sales numbers, but in April the company said demand for the device was "very strong" and higher than expected.

Meanwhile, Apple has doubled the storage capacities of two iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models while giving them a $100 price drop each. The year-old smartphones now come in 32GB and 128GB storage capacities for $549 and $649 respectively.

No one wants a series 3 version of the 4-inch iPhone 5 originally released in 2012!
Actually, many people do. I love mine. I'd be very happy to see one with the internals of the 7, but the SE is awesome. Especially at $450 for 64gb. Very nice price.

The SE remains the best iPhone release of 2016..

I'm surprised Apple aren't making more of this - one of their most successful iPhone releases ever. I dont think they mentioned it yesterday.

Tim Cook, I will give you an amazing advice for free.

There are 2 kinds of iPhone SE users:....
If I was Tim Cook, I would agree with you and make it happen. I would even send you a brand new Macbook Pro that would would ship later this year rather than in 2017 for your free advice since your advice would make Apple over a billion dollars in revenue.

Because Tim didn't receive your free advice, he will never know how to unlock this extra hidden revenue from this planet and you will never receive your free Macbook Pro 2017 edition.

It also had a price point that was $250 less than the 6s at the same capacity. (As of yesterday pricing/capacity on both has changed so the comparison is messier now.)

So to call it "old news" seems unfair. As discussed ad nauseum in the infamous (and now closed) "missing barometer" thread, the SE is not and never has been billed as flagship device. It's 90% of the features at 65% of the price. It's Apple's first true mid-range phone.
As someone who went from 6 -> SE I can say it feels like an upgrade all around. I would of happily paid up for the 128GB model.
Battery life, screen size and price makes the SE a real winner, I certainty hope Apple keeps a smaller phone in the lineup in the future.

Apple, bring us an all new smaller compact original size 4-inch iPhone!! Ceramic glass, no protruding camera, no antenna lines!

Um what are you talking about? It has all of the specs the iPhone 6s has except 3D Touch, which isn't that useful anyway.

iPhone SE is a device that was old news from day one. SE has a lesser display, no 3D touch, a slower first generation Touch ID, lesser FaceTime camera, no barometer, old design, etc.
