This week's Apple Pay promotion is offering customers the chance to save on their Fourth of July dinners with 20 percent off from restaurant chain TGI Fridays. If you use Apple Pay to checkout in the TGI Fridays iOS app, select the order for pickup, and use the promo code APPLE20, you'll get 20 percent off your meal through Sunday, July 8.

Apple's new promotion encourages users to get out and shop to prepare for their Fourth of July celebrations, suggesting stores like Trader Joe's, Party City, BevMo!, Hannaford Supermarkets, and BJ's Wholesale Club, all of which support Apple Pay. The email also mentions Apple Pay support at ACE Hardware, where users can find supplies for summer projects.

The last few Apple Pay promotions have been themed around summer activities as well, offering customers the chance to save money on new Adidas shoes to wear during summer workouts, and two free bike rides with the ofo app. Apple tends to theme its weekly promotions around big holidays or events when they happen, offering $5 off movie tickets with Fandango in celebration of the Oscars and a free Postmates Unlimited subscription for holiday dinners last November.

Disgusting, that place is a mockery of food. You would have to pay me to eat there.

Every five years or so I find myself inside a TGI Fridays and every time I regret it. As I nibble at wedges of soaking wet greasy potato covered in "cheese" that has somehow dried out and bacon pieces hard enough to crack a tooth on, I begin going over the life choices which brought me to this point. Usually I'm with a group of people that I am not well-acquainted such as a group project back in college or on a business trip and the group has decided to go there. Other times it is the result of going to a funeral in the middle of nowhere and it's one of the only options and that's where everyone is meeting up after service. Every time it is worse than the last, which is actually impressive in some kind of sick and twisted way. The only reason this chain continues to exist is marketing and many people lack a palate.

Good to see Apple Pay is doing so well that Apple can partner with quality restaraunts such as TGI Friday for these promotions. I don't even remotely want someone to take this out of context so here is a disclaimer that the entire last sentence was sarcasm.

I’m not a fan of TGI Fridays, however Apple needs to make these offers more inclusive of countries with Apple Pay elsewhere other than the USA.

But that means having to eat TGI Fridays food. I'll pass. Even a 100% discount isn't worth that.

I don’t think that there is a TGIF within 100 miles of me, and maybe a lot farther. I thought when the local ones closed it was because the entire chain had as well.
