Google today announced that its Google Podcasts app is expanding to iOS, and as of this morning, it is available for download on the iPhone and the iPad.

In addition to bringing the Podcasts app to iOS devices, Google has also overhauled it, making it easier to find podcast content, create lists of favorite podcasts, and customize the listening experience.

Google's redesigned Podcasts app focuses on Home, Explore, and Activity tabs. The Home tab features new episodes of subscribed shows, while Explore displays new show and episode recommendations.

The Activity tab displays listening history, queued episodes, and downloaded podcasts, with automatic downloading supported for each podcast a user subscribes to.

Pass. The Mountain View Ad Company will never get me to self-own with their apps and services. Go track yourselves, Google. I'll stick with the native Apple app.

I have never had any trouble at all finding podcasts, downloading, etc. I want through Overcast ('https://overcast.fm'). Those guys (actually one person) do not monetize anything they learn from me.

Why would I possibly want to switch to an App from Google? Why go to company whose business model is to harvest and sell data about me? Include me out ('https://quoteinvestigator.com/2014/10/13/include/').

I’ll stick with Pocket Casts since it does what I need it to do and I can easily discover new podcasts.

Yeah, I ended up with a Pocket Casts Plus lifetime membership, so it looks like I might be a lifetime member.
