Mophie today announced the launch of its latest power bank option, the 10,000mAh Powerstation Wireless XL Universal Battery. The Powerstation Wireless XL comes equipped support for Qi-based wireless charging and it includes a USB-C port for fast charging devices.
The Powerstation Wireless XL, which has a glass top design, can charge an iPhone wirelessly, plus it can be charged wirelessly with a Qi-based wireless charger, so you can wirelessly charge the power bank while you also wirelessly charge your phone.
If faster charging for an iPhone or iPad is needed, the USB-C port can be used, and since it's an input/output USB-C port, if you want to charge up the power bank quickly, you can do so over USB-C or the included Lightning port.
For iPhones with fast charging capabilities, the Powerstation Wireless XL can charge them to approximately 50 percent in 30 minutes as the USB-C port delivers 18W of power.
According to Mophie, the Powerstation Wireless XL adds up to 55 hours of additional battery life to an iPhone. Priority+ charging ensures power gets sent to your iPhone first and then the Powerstation when recharging, and an LED power indicator lets you know how much time is left.

How are these devices so big for only providing 10,000mAH? Smartphones nowadays are approaching 5,000mAH internal capacity and they are less than half the size and include a ton of other components.
For $25 (1/4 the price) I can get a smaller, lighter product that forgoes the worthless wireless charging capability. Again, mobile charging is NOT when you want to be wireless charging. You're going to lose almost half of those 10,000mAh to Qi inefficiency. Nobody should be buying this. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-10000mAh-Portable-Delivery/dp/B07PXMF52C/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=anker+10000&qid=1589477282&refinements=p_89%3AAnker&rnid=2528832011&sr=8-8
EDIT: A single concession: the Mophie battery charges via Lightning cable, which would be excellent if I didn't have multiple other accessories (work laptop) that already require me to have a type-C charging cable when travelling.
They should have taken their 26,000 mAh battery and added Qi on both sides, that'd be more ideal (although it would take a whole night or more to charge wirelessly, but if speed is needed it can charge at 45 watts USB-C too).
This does seem neat though. You could use this with type-C input too (though you lose the pass-through wired charging since Lightning is input-only). It'd be cool to top up at night wirelessly for instance if I really needed battery power during the day, but then I have enough AC outlets and car charging so it's unnecessary.
Charging while getting charged? Seems... hot. And Apple couldn't perfect heat issues in just a charging mat? Weird.
I believe based on their product page (and from having their 26,000 mAH battery too) they charge the external device first with pass-through mode, then they start charging the battery itself after the connected device finishes charging.

Right? Also, I just can’t keep up with these things. I feel like Mophie comes out with so many of these per year and they’re never really anything special. They discontinue their stuff often too.
