Jailbreak Tool 'unc0ver' 5.0 Released With iOS 13.5 Compatibility

The team behind the "unc0ver" jailbreaking tool for iOS has released version 5.0.0 of its software that claims to have the ability to jailbreak "every signed iOS version on every device" using a zero-day kernel vulnerability by Pwn20wnd, a renowned iOS hacker. The announcement comes just days after it was announced that the tool would soon launch.
unc0ver Released iOS 13
The unc0ver website highlights how the tool has been tested extensively across a range of iOS devices on several different software versions. The site also mentions that the jailbreaking tool is compatible across all devices running between iOS 11.0 and iOS 13.5.

As for security, unc0ver's website says it utilizes "native system sandbox exceptions" so that "security remains intact while enabling access to jailbreak files."

Before the release of unc0ver's jailbreak tool, the only way to jailbreak devices up to the ‌iPhone‌ 8 and ‌iPhone‌ X was by using the "checkra1n" tool.

Unc0ver's latest jailbreaking tool can be downloaded now from its website.

Is jailbreaking really still a thing?
Yes, and it’s better than it’s ever been, and the community is the largest it’s ever been

it’s really for people who enjoy theming and stuff now a days. Very high quality stuff out there.

love my dark icons or glyphs with my lock screen customization and customized dynamic wallpapers and my always on display and my text message Having different colours or status bar having different colours and icons

making the keyboard truly black and using the wasted space where the home bar is

I like removing the dock background and home bar

I like auto unlocking my phone when I look at it, none of that swiping up

I like being able to mimic the good old 3D Touch “press anywhere on keyboard to initiate cursor” not just the space bar

I enjoy custom gifs and moving wallpapers

I also like speeding up the Animations a bit, iPhone is very snappy with that

for me it’s mainly theming and a few tweaks

they have things like home screen tiles and widgets and stuff. Not for me but some people have some really awesome looking customizations

it’s a lot of little things but you can make it as big And as many changes or as small as you like.

Someone like myself enjoys changing icons and colours and wallpapers etc regularly so it’s right up my alley. Makes the phone feel fresh and you can change the look

with the incredible battery offered by the 11 Pro and Pro Max, you can really push these devices to do some amazing stuff like (real) multitasking and Always on displays and animated wallpapers

I thought there was no point in jailbreaking anymore, then I watched a few videos of the possible tweaks and I thought: I wouldn’t mind some of those!

Is jailbreaking really still a thing?
No where near as much as it was back in the iOS 4 and iOS 5 days, when Apple significantly limited certain features like Siri to certain iPhones, notification management was terrible, there was no control center, there was no multitasking, a lot of apps cost a lot of money, The share sheet only worked with services Apple specifically integrated with, etc.
Ever since then, the iPhones opened up dramatically, so now most people that jailbreak only do it for small tweaks like changing colors of Apple icons and stuff like that. There’s not a lot of extremely useful things jailbreaking can do nowadays, but for those who want to customize every nook, cranny, icon, font color, and sound effect with their phone, they still will.

The amount of general misinformation and Vitriol only two pages in, Doesnt surprise me but its a bummer.

It has nothing to do with Cupertino working from home largely, iOS 14 leaks which has nothing to do with jailbreak community and no one in that community even had awareness of, it is a security researcher using a 0 day kernel exploit to be a boss. He probably could’ve sold it for lots of money but decided to pair with a youtuber and case manufacturer and bake the store links into the app,I’m sure given it covers 12.0-13.5 (with some exceptions, I think none that relate to A9-A13) there will be lots of peoples appreciation thrown at him for releasing something like this.

Hasnt been a signed iOS firmware that is jailbreakable since like 6s/ 2015 / iOS 9.0.2 days. This is epic whether you like it or not. And its not some rando, its a guy who has released multiple jailbreaks now. Pretty much everything since iOS 11 (notwithstanding competition from cool star, and checkra1n which is a hardware exploit through A11.

you guys will get your 13.5.1 in due time, but its not like you have to be worried about your phone accidentally jailbreaking from surfing the web and doing your normal business lol. There’s still a willful multistep process just to get unc0ver and Cydia (the unofficial App Store) on your phone.

...Lots of iOS features came from jailbreak tweaks Too. So there’s that.

its fine to not like jailbreaking, simplicity purposes thats the way to go, but dont go acting like its all these things its not. People that hate jailbreak like to lecture customize users and customize people generally dont care if you use a jitter bug much less vanilla software Much less whatever platform you’re on.

I don't jailbreak, but this is a good thing. Better to known about the exploits than to assume there aren't any.

There are probably dozens more than are not known yet though, that's why the bounty program is important.
