Deals: Numerous Sales Hit Latest iMacs, Starting at $999 for 21.5-Inch and $1,649 for 27-Inch (Up to $200 Off)

Amazon and B&H Photo today are offering a few best-ever deals across Apple's 2019 and 2020 iMac updates, including both 21.5-inch and 27-inch models.

Starting at the lower end, the 21.5-inch iMac (2.3GHz, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) is available for $999.00, down from $1,099.00. This is a new low price for this model of the iMac, and you can find the same price being matched at B&H Photo.

Shoppers should note that although the 21.5-inch iMac technically hasn't seen a hardware update since 2019, Apple does now ship these models with an SSD. This change was made alongside the refresh seen to the 27-inch models in August 2020.

Moving to the larger models, both retailers have the 27-inch Retina iMac from mid 2020 (3.1GHz 6-Core, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) for $1,649.00, down from $1,799.00. This model previously hit this lowest-ever price around the holidays, and it can also be found on B&H Photo.

Next, you can get the 2020 27-inch Retina iMac (3.3GHz 6-Core, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD) for $1,799.99, down from $1,999.00. This one is only available at Amazon, and it's a match of the best price we've ever seen, thanks to a $59.01 coupon that will be applied at the checkout screen.

Lastly, Amazon has the 2020 27-inch Retina iMac (3.8GHz 8-Core, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD) for $2,148.92, down from $2,299.00. Like all the previous models, this is a lowest-ever price and it's the best currently available online among the major Apple resellers.

At least with the 27's you can replace that RAM with something you buy. Going to 32GB of RAM adds $600 through Apple but is $170 or so if you buy the RAM yourself (and throw the old Apple RAM in a drawer to avoid memory speed downclocks and dual to single channel switchover issues).

Like the sale discounts, but those default SSD sizes are about as bad as the 8GB memory sizes, just way too small unless you're using the machine mainly for browsing. My Photo's library alone is almost as big as the 512GB storage size itself.

Yeah the Apple powered iMac will probably have RAM built into the CPU or something (like the M1), but hopefully they'll go with a larger amount.

You don’t have to put the old RAM in a drawer, you just have to make sure they’re in the proper slots for dual channel. On my 2019 iMac I ran it 40GB for awhile (2x16 matched third party and 2x4 matched stock) and it ran full speed. At some point last year I upgraded to 16x4 for 64GB because there was a sale or something and it’s running at the same speed as 40GB.
Sounds good macduke, but for the newer 2020 27's the users in the forums have found the opposite. The reason I know, is I've been researching this as I'm about to get a 27 inch. Several conversations about that here's one (no flash update from Apple to get around it so far with little expectation for one):

Here's one over on Reddit saying the same thing:

Seems a shame, but if you want full speed and dual channel its best to put it in the drawer for the 2020 27's, seems like, lots of folks have tested this. Glad the prior model wasn't so fussy about this.

8 gigs of RAM on any machine north of $1500 is robbery. It just means I am unlikely to ever consider a stock iMac configuration for anything. I haven’t used less than 16 gb in nearly a decade...

I was about to chime in and say this. A PS4 came with 8gb of ram back in...2013! A $400 console! It’s freaking 2021. 16gb should be standard for anything apple sells at this point

I’m actually very happy the iMac ships with 8 GB. Their RAM prices are insane and the 27 inch is the only Mac left that you can upgrade with aftermarket RAM.

The Intel processor notwithstanding, the 27 inch iMac is a great deal when you consider the price of a comparable 5K display alone.
