$149 Apple TV 4K 128GB Model Includes Ethernet and Thread Support, 64GB Version Does Not

Apple's just-announced next-generation Apple TV 4K comes in 64GB and 128GB storage options, but only the larger capacity model comes with an Ethernet port and Thread support.

On the previous ‌Apple TV‌ 4K, both the 32GB and 64GB storage options included Ethernet and Thread support. With the smallest capacity third-generation ‌Apple TV‌ 4K now at 64GB and with a new starting price of $129, Apple has removed these two features, which are now exclusive to the 128GB model.

The updated ‌Apple TV‌ 4K model comes with an A15 Bionic chip, support for HDR10+, and an updated Siri Remote. The 128GB model with Wi-Fi and Ethernet configuration costs $149. The new ‌‌Apple TV‌‌ 4K is available to order today, with availability beginning Friday, November 4.

Just a shameless cash grab... Apple knows anyone with a proper home theater wants this thing on ethernet, so they gate it behind the 128GB upgrade, which almost nobody even needs.

This is a big "**** you" from Apple, absolutely no reason to cut out the ~$1 ethernet port except to make you buy a device with more storage. What in the world do you even need 128GB on this thing for? Most people use it for their streaming services.

There should only be one model of Apple TV. Apple’s insistence on segmenting features by storage size, or physical size of iPhones, leads to massive customer confusion and greater development/manufacturing costs. This is even more problematic given that Apple TV has very few compelling reasons (apps) to upgrade to 128 GB storage.

Amazing people just can't stop complaining about the lack of a single feature that people don't necessarily need and that it's $50 cheaper as a starting price?

Even with the *same* features it's $30 cheaper than the previous Apple TV 4K and you get double the storage...
