8GB RAM kills the two lower-priced deals.
8GB of RAM is perfectly adequate for a huge portion of the market.

I can't understand anyone buying their main computer with anything less than 1 TB anymore. I recall struggling at 500 GB, and figuring out which apps to let go of.
I picked up a base M2 Mini (8GB/256GB) a few months ago when Costco ran a similar sale.

I also picked up a Satechi base for it and installed a 1TB SSD in the Satechi base, and another 1TB SSD attached to the thunderbolt port in the back.

It's a terrific combination and I'm able to do everything that I need to... video encoding, audio processing, image processing, office productivity, and more. This thing effortlessly handles those tasks and doesn't even break a sweat.

I know that FOMO is a thing that people deal with. For them, they should pony up and pay double the base price for the RAM and storage that they'll feel comfortable with.

But IMO, the Base M2 Mini for $499 is a steal.

Because once your data doesn't fit, you need an external drive anyway... and you get FAR more storage per dollar with external drives. Base internal storage + huge external storage is a good solution for a lot of folks.

This M2 Mini outperforms the still on sale Mac Pro, whoever grabs one at this price you're getting the best value on the market.
