Anker Black Friday Sale Takes Up to 60% Off Sitewide With Huge Savings on USB-C Accessories, Mystery Boxes, and More

Anker's Black Friday event is offering up to 60 percent off sitewide, and you don't need to purchase more than one accessory at a time to get a bundle discount this time around. There are also still a few "mystery boxes" that can include hundreds of dollars in savings, if you're willing to risk not knowing what you're buying ahead of time.

In terms of the base sale, there are plenty of great accessories that you can buy to take advantage of the savings. A new highlight is the Prime 20,000 mAh Power Bank with 100W Charging Base for $129.50, down from $184.99. If you just want a portable battery with a smart display, the PowerCore 24,000 mAh Power Bank with Smart Digital Display is at $92.00, down from $159.99.

At the bottom of the Black Friday sale page, Anker also has a few blind boxes on sale, priced at $19.99 (up to $219.99 in value) and at $29.99 (up to $219.99 in value). These mystery boxes include one Anker accessory, but you won't know what you're getting until they arrive. All items in the $19.99 box are worth more than $19.99, and all items in the $29.99 box are worth more than $29.99, so no matter what you'll be getting a deal.

All mystery box items are non-returnable (with the exception of quality issues). These could net you a huge discount with a collection of solid stocking stuffers for the holidays, if you're willing to take the blind box risk. Anker's Black Friday sale will run through December 3.

Are certain usb c cables better than others or are they all the same? Or is it like hdmi where there are higher end cables?
A Thunderbolt 4 cable would be a high end USB-C cable. However it will not charge your iPhone any faster But it will transfer data super fast.
(That said with the iPhone15 series in mind)

There are different types of USB-C cables with legitimate physical differences & certifications - depending on your needs for data transfer and charging capacity. You need to pick the right cable for the job.

Look for the specs: data transfer might be USB 2.0, USB 3, USB 4 or Thunderbolt 3, and longer Thunderbolt cables need active signal boosters. Power capacity is normally 60W minimum, but can go up to 240W.

Thunderbolt 4 certified cables have higher minimum specs - but come at a premium price. Apple's "infamous" $130 cables do include a substantial "apple tax" but they are fully-specced, active TB4 cables that should support any use and don't bear comparison with a $10 basic cable which is probably only good for charging phones - a true 3rd party equivalent - if you need one - is still going to be the thick end of $100.

The cheaper cables are often USB 2 only but that's all you need to charge a phone, and a USB 3 one would be thicker/less flexible. The more expensive TB4 cables might be more suited to connecting a MacBook Pro up to a fully-loaded Thunderbolt 4 hub. USB cables with USB 3.2 support are probably what you want for the typical external SSD.

This isn't like the snake-oil hi-fi cables with deoxygenated vegan copper and directional arrows indicating the polarity of the neutron flow (although I'm sure that snake oil is now available with USB-C support). As with all digital cables (USB, HDMI, Ethernet) there are various speed/power/feature standards - if a cable meets those standards it will perform as well as any other cable that meets the standard, if it doesn't meet the standard then "do you feel lucky"?

Pay extra for gold-plated connectors and/or braided cables if you want - they might be more durable but won't perform any better.
