I miss the days when we could see deals from other companies, I get that there is a partnership with Best Buy, but there has been no other mention of anyone else this holiday season, and buying a membership for a "deal" isn't always the best deal out there.

I will probably never shop at Best Buy for anything large again. I used to be totally in their corner and bought major appliances, big TV's, tons of home theater equipment like surround speakers etc. Spent thousands every year. I loved their Elite and Elite Plus membership rewards where we got same day delivery, longer return window and points banking...

Then out of nowhere they completely deleted the program, even though I had earned it, Elite Plus, by spending lots of hard earned money at their stores. Now they want to try and copy Costco with their even more expensive membership program? Hell no. I feel very burned by what they did to their most loyal customers. They can go bankrupt for all I care now. Don't screw your customers!!

Best Buy is overpriced and unfriendly so much that I wish that they fail like Circuit City.
Companies for sure have a shelf life. What we don’t want is less competition - but that seems to be the trend. We are largely forced to pick from only big players now for almost everything tech. And consumers seem largely ok with / blind to this.

Best Buy will likely get taken over by Amazon down the road, and their stores rebranded as such.

Walmart and Target would have no interest or need to buy BestBuy. I too doubt Amazon would buy them, but this would give them mass distribution channel and "show rooming" ability for people to see and try products first so they don't ship them back (which kills Amazons margins). Though, most of use showroom best buy before biying said product on Amazon.

If Best Buy falls, that's basically the end of the big box electronics retailers. If anything, Lowe's and Home Depot might invest in some of those categories, but Wal and Target are already there as is any decent big box player - the few that still exist. With Frye's dead - there isn't anyone else really.
