Here's How Vision Pro Demos Will Work at Apple Stores Next Month

Starting on February 2 at 8 a.m. local time, Apple Stores in the U.S. will allow customers to sign up for a demo of the Vision Pro headset. In an email, Apple said it will be offering demos from February 2 through February 4 on a first‑come, first‑served basis.

In his Power On newsletter today, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said each demo will last around 20 to 25 minutes. After a calibration process, he said the customer will view still photos, panoramas, spatial photos, and spatial videos in the Photos app. Next, he said customers will learn how to position multiple app windows and scroll through pages in Safari. Then, they will view immersive 3D content, including movie clips, sports, and a tightrope scene.

Media personnel, YouTube creators, and some others invited to attend WWDC 2023 at Apple Park last June received a similar demo experience.

Vision Pro demo units will also be preloaded with various third-party apps that will be available on the App Store at launch, according to the newsletter. Apple began allowing developers to submit visionOS apps for approval earlier this month.

Apple will begin accepting Vision Pro pre-orders in the U.S. on January 19, with pricing starting at $3,499. The headset launches February 2.

What about the folks who really need to express how uninterested they are in the product? Can they make an appointment to go over that with a staff member? I guess it could be shorter than 25 minutes in that case, but I wouldn't bet on it.
I would guess no as the demos are only for adults.

Two things:
1) This demo is only going to work for people who don't need vision correction, or have near normal eyesight.
2) Would you put on one of these headsets without actually SEEING an employee cleaning it beforehand? Not me!
From the source article...

If a person is wearing glasses, the stores will have a device to scan the lenses for prescription information. The system will provide those numbers, and stores will have hundreds of lenses on hand for demos. The employee then gathers all of those details, and another worker in the store’s back room assembles the demo Vision Pro with the correct accessories.

Apple began accepting Vision Pro pre-orders in the U.S. on January 19 ('https://www.macrumors.com/2024/01/08/apple-announces-february-2-vision-pro-launch/'), with pricing starting at $3,499. The headset launches February 2.
Did I inadvertently time travel again? Today IS January 14 right? Am I not thinking fourth-dimensionally??

You know this fairly smart, if deceiving.

By having a few people on hand for demos that can take half an hour, there will be lines out the door.

Nice way to hype the product.

Even if no one buys it, lots of people will want to try it out.
This will sell out on the 19th. By the 2nd you will be placing orders for next year.

Random but I was actually wondering if there have ever been any long term studies to show if wearing a VR / AR Headset is potentially having a negative impact on your vision / brain. I am not even kidding.

I bought a Meta Quest 3 last week and I LOVE it but I felt like I was on drugs the whole weekend after playing or watching things for about 2 hours (with breaks) each day like it almost felt like I was standing besides me and not actually thinking straight (hard to explain). 1st I broke the key of the apartment door! then I forgot my wallet at a restaurant and 3rd I bumped our car into a stone, trying to park. It even got hard following my BFs conversations at times. Also, when I take it off and start using my iPhone, it's like the phone screen has some distorted effect to it. I cannot explain it but it feels like I am having out of body experiences when I take it off ? did not use it on Sunday and felt much better.
