Apple's New M4 Macs Will Have Day One Update to Get Apple Intelligence Features

Customers who have pre-ordered an M4 iMac, Mac mini, or MacBook Pro will need to update to the latest version of macOS Sequoia after receiving their machines on Friday, November 8.

macOS Sequoia Night Feature
Apple today released ‌macOS Sequoia‌ 15.1 (build number 24B2083) for the new M4 Mac models, which are shipping with a special version of ‌macOS Sequoia‌ 15.0 (build number 24A8332).

Out of the box, the M4 ‌iMac‌, ‌Mac mini‌, and ‌MacBook Pro‌ will not support Apple Intelligence, so to get ‌Apple Intelligence‌ features, customers will need to install ‌macOS Sequoia‌ 15.1. Restoring from a backup of a machine already running ‌macOS Sequoia‌ 15.1 will also necessitate a software upgrade during the transfer process.

‌macOS Sequoia‌ 15.1 introduces the first Apple Intelligence capabilities, adding Writing Tools, new Siri features and design, notification summaries, smart replies, and more. The update also includes drag and drop for iPhone Mirroring and it enables hearing health features for the AirPods Pro 2.

It's pretty lame of them to ship broken devices and make people update on day one!
nah. they won't be broken, but by the time they are packaged, distributed, marketed, posted, etc., new updates come anyway, so you can't always expect the factory version to be the latest version available by the time you get it. sometimes it may be, but more often than not it isn't.

I never used to be like, alsoways used to have the latest OS, that was when I was using Windows, but I think I prefer a stable OS these days.
I haven't seen any problems yet, but I encourage you to wait as long as you want. Until apps you need start requiring it there's no need to upgrade.

Apple Intelligence is kind of lame on my MacBook Pro TBH. I don't see the use for it yet. And siri seems to still be just as bad as she's ever been.
I haven’t seen an AI that I’m impressed with, I’m trying Apples out on my iPhone but so far the summary feature has routinely claimed the exact opposite of what the person I was speaking to had written. It was a feature that had me mildly excited but I just don’t trust it any more.

I hate how every tech company out there is just shouting “AI everything!” From the rooftops, I hoped given how unreliable it’s been, that Apple wouldn't bother or would wait until it matured, doesn’t seem up to Apple quality to me. I suppose as a plus side it resulted in more RAM for devices and it can easily be switched off ?‍♂️

Sequoia has been a dull upgrade to me, no drama and just a few new things I really appreciate. 15.1 has been the same.

That's just like I like my macOS updates.
Still not updated to it, i will wait for a few more versions just to make sure it is stable.

Also, I need to make sure I can disable any AI stuff that Apple try to throw at us.
