This sale is available in Silver and Blue, while Pink and Yellow are just a few cents higher. Although this is just a $20 discount, it remains the lowest price we've ever tracked for the new iPad, and right now only Amazon has these record low prices.

You can also get the 256GB Wi-Fi iPad for $419.80, down from $449.00, and the 512GB Wi-Fi iPad for $601.67, down from $649.00. We're not tracking any discounts on the cellular models of the 11th generation iPad right now.

The 11th generation iPad is mainly a spec bump for the tablet line, now featuring the A16 chip and more storage, with the same design as the 10th generation iPad. The new ‌iPad‌ starts with 128GB of storage, and is also available in 256GB and a new 512GB configuration. The previous model was only available in 64GB and 256GB configurations.

Not really. Go ask a parent. Schools issue Chromebooks. Fancy schools issue MacBook Airs. iPads are seldom seen outside of assistive technology uses.
My school district has K-8 use iPads while 9-12 use Chromebooks.

Public schools buy Chromebooks, not iPads. iPads are used mostly in speciality education settings.
they buy both, but the iPads they buy are still mostly the basic ones, as already mentioned.

Seeing that Best Buy is showing $0.14 more for the base iPad.

When will it go down to $299 again?
I’m pretty sure that $299 price was for the Gen 10 iPad. So far, this is the lowest I’ve ever seen for a Gen 11. How long it’ll take for the new iPad to touch $299 is anyone’s guess and will probably depend on how well it is selling.

When they can get them in stock, Micro Center shows the base ones for $315. ('https://www.microcenter.com/product/692631/apple-ipad-11-md4e4ll-a-(early-2025)-pink?sp=408') The 256GB is 405, etc. And they also discounted their cell versions: the cheapest one is 450. ('https://www.microcenter.com/product/692640/apple-ipad-11-md7f4ll-a-(early-2025)-silver') But they won't ship anything, so you have to go to a store.

Where does the "regular" iPad sit in terms of market positioning between the iPad mini, iPad Air and iPad Pro? I understand iPad Pro and mini, the former is for people that want a laptop experience at times along with portability and the latter is for ultra portability on the go.

I don't quite understand who the regular iPad is for and even the iPad Air for that matter. The product line is confusing, just like the new Mac Studio that uses an M3 Ultra.
That iPad is the basic model. The middle models are the iPad Air and the iPad Mini, depending on what size you want. Then the Pros are the most expensive ones. If you don't have a need for anything fancy and you don't think it's too big, the 11 inch basic iPad is just fine, and is not coincidentally the one public schools tend to buy for kids to use.
