Heads up. Many of us have the OWC Thunderbolt 4 dock, and we cannot use the ethernet port, or it brings down our whole home network. Everything else does what it says on the tin, but it needs an additional USB-C ethernet dongle.

It's a well-reported issue with the RTL8153 chipset used in the ethernet port. Not sure if the current OWC TB4 docks still use that chipset.

Those are some insane prices for Thunderbolt 3 docks, even with the sales. Not sure what makes them think those are well priced, especially since Thunderbolt 4 is vastly superior.
Is there anything Thunderbolt-related out there that's not massively overpriced?

I am so done with USB-A ports. I won't purchase a hub with USB-A in 2025 or later.

You obviously got a dud. I'm on my 2nd. I spilt alcohol all over my first one. No issues with either. Very solid. Got my 2nd one brand new on Ebay for $50. Winning.
You obviously don’t know about their RTL8153 chipset problem. Probably neither did the person you’re replying to, because it was a simple fix (if disappointing from a customer service standpoint) by purchasing an extra Ethernet dongle.

I find my TB4 dock quite useful, but from day-one it never did what it says on the tin.

And OWC did feck-all to resolve or reimburse that issue, which is exceedingly crappy of them.

I have to say that every time I see this pushed by macrumors my faith in their objectivity is knocked down a notch, not to mention that I have ZERO faith in OWC anymore to provide value at the price.

This is a VERY old product. OWC must have massively overestimated demand for this... 10 years ago when it was still a little valid. NOTHING uses mini DisplayPort, and the serious lack of any other monitor connectivity means that this really doesn't have any value over a $50 USB-C dock.

This is a crap product. I have one and it has no many disconnects and issues it has been in a drawer and forgotten about until I read this. I can't even sell it.
